OUR Safety

Southwest Hazard Control, Inc. (SHC) takes a leadership role in all aspects of the environmental remediation industry.  This includes staying at the forefront of all applicable Safety rules and regulations.  Following and harmonizing Federal regulations from OSHA and MSHA, with State regulations such as Cal/OSHA, and the safety policies of our clients that often exceed regulatory requirements has become a complicated task for a specialty contractor.  SHC prides itself on its ability to follow and meet these ever changing requirements to satisfy the needs of our clients and to maintain SHC’s safety performance goals.

SHC endeavors to meet these goals by developing a culture of safety that makes all SHC team members stakeholders in the Safety program.  This has begun with SHC revising and expanding our Safety policies and programs for all levels of team members from laborers to management personnel.  By expanding the amount of safety training each employee receives and providing more cross-training between the abatement and remediation disciplines, SHC hopes to provide clients with more educated and well-rounded team member that can satisfy their needs.  Standardized Safety policies and training allows us to provide better Quality Assurance and Quality Control in all aspects of our environmental abatement and remediation services.

SHC has expanded and improved in-house training to include respiratory protection, confined space entry, personal protective equipment, HAZCOM, fall protection, LOTOTO, electrical safety, GFCIs, ladder safety, and many others.  SHC has continued and expanded 3rd party training certifications to include Asbestos, Lead, MSHA, OSHA 10-HR, OSHA 30-HR, HAZWOPER, aerial lifts, fork lifts, and first aid along with other certifications.  New-hire orientations are being expanded to include additional safety topics to ensure that newly hired employees are able to provide the same level of safety and service as SHC’s more experienced team members.

In an industry where Environmental and Safety regulations are frequently changing as new technologies and hazards are discovered, SHC will continue to take the necessary step to insure that all of our clients can rely on the high level of performance and service they have come to expect from us.
